"Her performance was outstanding" wrote Judge Rittenband in his book The Truths of Justice about Attorney Ansell after a nineteen day trial before him that resulted in the granting of a new trial to her client who was convicted and sentenced to fifty years in prison. That tenacity and grit earned Attorney Ansell a well-deserved reputation of representing her clients with passion and great zeal. She attributes her success not only to attention to detail but also to maintaining a general litigation practice in the age of specialists. Her areas of practice include Criminal Law, Family Law, and construction litigation, Personal Injury and Probate/Will contests to name a few. Attorney Ansell brings a common sense approach to problem solving drawing upon her vast experience garnered over many years in multiple disciplines. If she cannot serve a client optimally however, she refers them to whom she would go to in their circumstances.

Attorney Ansell received her B.S. from Salve Regina, M.B.A. from Emporia State University and J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law. She is a member of the American Association of Justice, Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association, Connecticut Bar Association, National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, New York Bar Association, Washington D.C. Bar Association and New London County Bar Association.

On a number of occasions, Attorney Ansell created law in cases of first impression and was featured in the Connecticut Law Tribune for her contributions of important cases. She was honorably noticed for pro bono service, voted one of the 10 best Female Attorneys in client satisfaction in both Personal Injury and Criminal Law and is listed in the Who’s Who Directories of distinguished leading professionals.

Attorney Ansell has served in her community as former chair and member of the Zoning Board of Appeals in Waterford, Connecticut, former chair of fundraising for the American Cancer Society in Southeastern Connecticut, Vice President of the Mystic Ballet, board member of DNA Solutions, Inc. (a non-profit sponsoring enrichment programs in the community), and was a volunteer for The Marine Commerce and Development Commission in New London.


Adam A. Laben, M.B.A., J.D.

Attorney Laben joined the firm in 1996 as an associate and became a partner in 2000. He is a graduate of the American College of Switzerland with a Bachelor's Degree in International Business Administration with a concentration in accounting and finance. He graduated with a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Emporia State University and received a law degree from the University of Connecticut in 1990. Prior to joining Attorney Ansell in 1996, Attorney Laben was employed in the tax departments of two Big Six accounting firms in Hartford, Connecticut. Attorney Laben now practices in the areas of criminal law representing individuals charged with driving under the influence, drug offenses, motor vehicle violations, violations of probation, assaults, white collar crime, serious felonies, sexual assaults and family violence offenses. Attorney Laben also practices in the areas of personal injury and worker's compensation; matrimonial law including custody disputes, divorces, contempt and post judgment modifications; as well as representing individuals with tax problems before the Internal Revenue Service and the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services and as probate matters and consumer bankruptcies.
